Using GIS to map the oaks at Pleasant Valley Conservancy

The tree database that we have set up is useful for a lot of purposes, and as time permits I do various analyses with ArcGIS. The map below provides a summary of the distribution of each species of oak and separate maps for each species can be found here: Link to the oak distribution site


On the map here only trees >= 12 inches are shown. Also shown (in small yellow dots) is shagbark hickory, since that is a common associate with oaks in our area. There are a number of other tree species (hackberry, cherry, basswood, birch, etc.) but these are not shown in this map.
