Sandhill cranes very active

Right now the sandhill cranes are very active in our wetland. A pair has been exploring the area, presumably looking for a nesting site. And there is a group of five that are hanging out together. While we were eating lunch yesterday, the five flew low in front of us. We all grabbed our cameras, but Amanda got the best photo, shown here.

After circling quite a bit these five finally settled down, very appropriately at the edge of the Crane Prairie!
