Last September I published in Ecological Restoration a paper on the ecology and conservation of purple milkweed (Asclepias purpurascens). This handsome species, endangered in Wisconsin, grows best in oak savannas or open oak woodlands, and popped up spontaneously at Pleasant Valley Conservancy after we began restoration work about 10 years ago.
Unfortunately, the published paper could not include the color photos, but the downloadable PDF contains them. This is a fairly large file, so be patient when downloading.
